In recent years, many studies have been conducted on the effects of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on athlete performance parameters. Tomczyk and colleagues have published a review on these studies, evaluating the overall effects of supplementation with EPA and DHA, either combined or by themselves, on athlete performance and health (Tomczyk et al., 2023). They found that this supplementation carries many benefits for athletes. For example, DHA supplementation improved complex reaction time and efficiency in female soccer players, and reduced levels of head trauma markers in male American football athletes.
