A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials by Chang and colleagues set out to determine the effects of EPA and DHA in children and adolescents with ADHD (Chang et al., 2018). They found that children and adolescents have lower levels of DHA an EPA. Moreover, supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids improved performance in cognitive tests that are associated with attention. The authors concluded that omega-3 supplementation may be considered as an ADHD treatment option.
